Here is a lengthy discussion why the attack on Pearl Harbor was both provoked and anticipated; and in which our military personnel and naval assets were intentionally sacrificed so FDR could have his war:
Nearly every aspect of the attack has been distorted or hidden with lie after lie to this day. It indeed will "live in infamy", but not in the way FDR intended.
One can argue whether WWII was necessary or somehow benefited the USA, but my assessment is that neither was the case. Like nearly all our wars, it was a war of aggression which easily could have been avoided. It may have given us a temporary advantage on the world stage, but the long chain of events stretching from then to now unquestionably has destroyed our once rich, respected nation.
The "greatest generation" certainly did their patriotic duty, often making the ultimate sacrifice, but was it worth it? I say no.
What do YOU think?
