The US government just sold the USS Forrestal to a scrap metal recycler for one cent:

This illustrates how STUPID and WASTEFUL war is: a two billion dollar (today's value) ship is only worth one cent. And its only "contribution" was to help bomb the bejesus out of Vietnam, for G-d only knows what reason. So the dominoes would not fall, or some crap like that.
This is ALMOST as dumb as selling the WTC debris to scrap recyclers before it could be examined as crime scene evidence.
Ironically, I think that I wrote this scrap recycler's air permit while I worked for the Texas environmental agency in a former life. Won't ever do THAT again.
