Here is an essay in The New York Times about the "other" drug epidemic:
https://www.nytimes.com/2019/12/16/well/live/the-hidden-drug-epidemic-among-older-people.html
I get the impression they're blaming the patients for this epidemic. Well, they're wrong.
The medical community has been captured by Big Pharma. Too often, if we get to see a doctor at all the remedy offered to us will be some drug or other, or several drugs. It's NOT our fault - this is what the practice of medicine has become in the US.
And take a look at just about any magazine or TV show. Every other page and every other TV commercial will be an ad for prescription drugs.
If you really want to stop this "epidemic", then stop direct-to-the-public ads for drugs and reform US medical education to get doctors to stop prescribing all this crap.
Anything else just ain't gonna cut it.
