After reading this, I don't know whether to laugh or cry. The most amazing thing is that such a discussion would even be NECESSARY in the USA.
Whether these rumblings come from the top or the bottom of the food chain, it should be obvious that our "leaders" have done nothing except fan the flames of discontent. For some time now, the biggest fortunes have been made by "re-inventing" things (i.e., destroying them) and by pitting us against each other. What kind of sick people would do such things to their own neighbors?
Just thinking about it is enough to make one puke.
By the way, here is a brief history of ten sovereign states which helped form the USA. Many of us have never heard of them, and I'm sure there is a good reason for that; namely, someone doesn't want us to know there's more than one way to organize ourselves:
