Was Measles The First HIV ???

As you may have heard, the measles virus is thought to cause our immune system to "forget" how to fight other diseases. You can read about this discovery here:

https://www.nationalgeographic.com/science/2019/03/measles-vaccine-protect-disease-immune-amnesia/

Although caused by another virus apparently attacking us in a different manner, isn't that similar to what HIV does, at least in broader context?

By the way, this effect of the measles virus might have been realized years ago. As you probably did not know, the high titre E-Z measles vaccine conferred immunity to its recipients but apparently led some of them to die from unspecified causes two years later:

"... similar clinical trials conducted in Africa and Haiti with the vaccine raised questions about its relationship to an increased death rate among female infants who received the more potent of two dosages being studied. Those children died within two years after the vaccination."

Although the major efforts in the wake of the early E-Z vaccine findings appear to have been mainly to cover up what had happened, perhaps the excess deaths at age two occurred because the vaccine triggered what we're now calling "immune amnesia".

Just guessing, but it makes sense ... doesn't it?
