Pearl Harbor - AGAIN ???

As you may have heard, Iran war fever has gripped the nation:

All the foreign policy news these days is heavily centered on the idea that the United States is rapidly escalating tensions in the Middle East based on some non-specific Iranian threat, and that a major war with Iran is potentially about to break out.

That’s not just the story on the front page of papers, it’s also a major topic of discussion, and in some cases alarm, among lawmakers and other top officials in Washington D.C. There is also a hunger for more real information and less idle speculation.

A handful of Congressional leaders were given some information Thursday in a classified briefing, though they all came out of that meeting refusing to talk about it. A second classified briefing for the entire House and Senate is said to be planned for next week.

The US provoked the attack on Pearl Harbor, provoked the Gulf of Tonkin incident, and contributed to other provocations which led to war - yet somehow we always managed to blame it all on the other guys.

Let's get this straight - the US overthrew the legally elected government of Iran in 1953 and installed the Shah and one of the most vicious regimes in history (in terms of what it did to the Iranian people), and now we're trying to do something similar. Only this time, at least two nations with nuclear weapons (Russia and Israel) have a stake in the outcome.

A nation which has been at war with someone over nearly all its history cannot really be a democracy. Ask yourself this - what have We the People gained since 1776 except the enmity of nearly all the peoples of the world? Any political gain was erased by the "Patriot (sic) Act", and any economic gain is being destroyed by the Trade War and our rapidly ballooning public and private debts.

We are on a Highway to Hell, and I fear there are no exits between here and our final destination.
