I think there is no better example of the waning influence of the US. We've interfered in the futures of dozens of countries, seldom with their best interests in mind. If the Koreans want to solve their own problems, we should let them. Any show or use of force by the US (which apparently is the only weapon we have left) would be counterproductive.
Give peace a chance. If that means China takes over as the regional hegemon, so be it. After all, it is their backyard ... not ours.
