The Wrong Apes Are Thriving

Here is a sad comparison:

By the Red List reckoning, the planetwide total for all wild apes amounts to 350,000 individuals, down from premodern figures estimated in the millions.

Meanwhile, Earth's human population may once have been less than 10,000 but now is on its way to peak at 9 billion.

I never heard anyone claim that wild apes were destroying the environment or threatening to overpopulate this planet. Have you?
