Gordon and I were shipmates on USS Nautilus (SSN 571). As a USNA graduate, he was a true believer; I was (and am) neither. If there are riches in them thar asteroids, Gordon will figure out how to retrieve them.
But if, as Dr. Tyson suggests, humans plan to commercialize space, don't be surprised if the other inhabitants of the universe decide to intervene. I'm sure they have been watching us and have plans for how to deal with us if we ever escape from this rock we call home.
