The ongoing disaster at Fukushima is being compared to the "cauldrons of hell":

I was trained as a Senior Reactor Operator by General Electric Co., the corporation which designed those reactors. The training I received specified that in the event of a loss of coolant accident / impending meltdown, any and all sources of water (even seawater) were to be used in an effort to keep the core cooled. Looking back, it's clear that no one thought through that strategy to realize what a gigantic radioactive mess it would cause.
Nuclear power is one of the dumbest things humanity has ever done.
