Chuck, that's the whole problem: "they are merely following orders".

Everyone who committed the abuses at Abu Ghraib used that very same excuse: "we were just following orders".

And although the comparison is not (yet) apt, that's what the Nazis also said: "we were just following orders".

The responsibility of the American warrior is this:

The Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ) 809[890].ART.90 (20), makes it clear that military personnel need to obey the "lawful command of his superior officer," 891.ART.91 (2), the "lawful order of a warrant officer", 892.ART.92 (1) the "lawful general order", 892.ART.92 (2) "lawful order". In each case, military personnel have an obligation and a duty to only obey Lawful orders and indeed have an obligation to disobey Unlawful orders, including orders by the president that do not comply with the UCMJ. The moral and legal obligation is to the U.S. Constitution and not to those who would issue unlawful orders, especially if those orders are in direct violation of the Constitution and the UCMJ.

The problem with implementing this requirement is the inability of the soldier at the bottom of the chain to determine what is legal and what is not. As we learned from the My Lai massacre, most American fighting men can't tell the difference, and Abu Ghraib confirmed this lack of ability on their part.

You are right to point out that the problem lies with their superiors who give those orders, but unless the men and women who are called upon to implement illegal or unconstitutional orders refuse en masse to carry them out, they will get carried out.

And if they did refuse en masse, it would be ruled a mutiny, they would all be hanged, and the orders would get carried out anyway.

Regardless of how you feel about their arguments, do you really think that our police and soldiers are going to disobey their orders? I don't. I can't see there EVER being a military coup in the US. The military leaders of the US are too entwined with the leaders of the deep state for such a thing ever to happen.

By the way, I do not support their claims that anyone is going to "hang". I am not and never will be in favor of threats or violence of any kind, for political purposes or for any other purpose.

G-d hasn't told us to harm anyone. He told us to come out of the evil of this world and to patiently await His judgment. To do anything other than that demonstrates a lack of faith in His promises.

Note well that Hollywood and the MSM relentlessly ridicule that patience and faith. Why? Because their father Satan does not want you to be faithful to Jesus and His Father.

Also by the way, the oaths taken by military officers and enlisted are NOT oaths to G-d. Jesus himself said this about oaths:
