The Destruction Of Cultural Artifacts

Apparently ISIS is destroying cultural artifacts because they believe that's what Allah wants them to do:

What does it feel like to have your history destroyed? What is it like to watch, helpless, as armed madmen take sledgehammers to some of the most treasured artifacts of your country's heritage?

Allow me to say this about that:

(1) The European invaders of the Americas and their priests did the very same thing to the indigenous cultures they encountered. Did they ever atone for their crimes?

(2) The US does much the same thing in nearly every country we invade, although we use bombs and shells instead of sledgehammers and then follow up with the sociocidal creed of neoliberalism.

(3) In general, the Bible prohibits the carving and worshiping of idols. If we followed the Bible, we might be smashing statues, too.

(4) The Book of Revelation gives a specific warning about people who worship idols:

And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand,

The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb:
And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.
Revelation 14:9-11 KJV

Ours is an image driven culture. And clearly this generation, with the support of the one percent, is smashing most of the images of our past. Why is such destruction justified when it allegedly occurs in the name of "progress", but NOT justified when it occurs in the name of preserving tradition?

By the way, did I forget to mention that Israel, with US assistance, has been destroying the villages, homes, and cultural artifacts of the Palestinian people? Why are you supporting that?
