By now most of us have seen President Donald Trump's mug shot:
I don't know about you, but it reminds me of this 1933 photo of Joseph Goebbels:
The glare (or scowl, if you prefer) on the Nazi's face was a harbinger of terrible things - the Holocaust, World War II, and the death of more than 60 million people.
The specifics may differ, but the passions of 2023 are quite similar to those of 1933 ... and seem to be growing in intensity day by day.
And what are we to make of the rantings of President Joe Biden?
Is he doing anything to calm those passions, or are he and his circle adding fuel to the fire?
We are on the brink of a great catastrophe and have precious little time left to extinguish the flames of our passions and resurrect the better angels of our nature. If we do not, terrible things await us, too.
