President Barack Obama defended his decision to open up bathrooms to students of both sexes based on preference, citing his religious faith as a reason he decided to do it.
“My reading of scripture tells me that that [the] Golden Rule is pretty high up there in terms of my Christian belief,” he said during a town hall in Elkhart, Indiana.
Local resident Arvis Dawson questioned Obama during the event, wondering why the president decided to make it such an issue.
“What happened and what continues to happen is you have transgender kids in schools and they get bullied and they get ostracized and it’s tough for them,” Obama said, saying that in the past, students were forced to suffer silently.

He apparently is referring to this scripture:
Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.
Matthew 7:12 KJV
But at the same time he is ignoring these scriptures:
For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
Matthew 5:18 KJV
Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.
Leviticus 18:22 KJV
The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman's garment: for all that do so are abomination unto the Lord thy God.
Deuteronomy 22:5 KJV
The way I interpret the Bible, Jesus did not excuse people's sins. He usually reminded everyone that only G-d has the right to punish sin, and He always admonished sinners to repent and sin no more.
I don't think He redefined "the Golden Rule" to mean this:
All sins whatsoever ye would that men should do, do ye likewise.
