Both apparently involved the destruction of key evidence.
As we all know, the ruins of the World Trade Center buildings and almost all of the 9/11 evidence contained therein was hastily removed from the crime scene and destroyed ... under close US government supervision.
Now the MSM contains stories such as this one whining about Russian involvement in destruction of evidence at the crash site of Flight MH-17:

Is there any provable difference between the actions of these two governments (other than to acknowledge that the scale of 9/11 evidence destruction was on a much larger scale)?
And if the US-puppet Ukraine government wants evidence to be preserved and available for examination, then why have they seized and withheld the air traffic control recordings of the flight? Will we ever get to hear them?
