Interesting report from California about a mountain lion which apparently was tracking human prey:

Humans are putting overwhelming pressure on the environment and pushing predators into a corner where there is nothing to eat. They must either strike back, or die.
So far we have the upper hand, but nature may be in the process of changing that. I was watching M. Night Shyamalan's schlock movie The Happening yesterday, and it made me think that maybe the worldwide resurgence of deadly bacteria is part of nature's plan to restore balance to the planet.
One way or the other, we definitely are in the midst of the sixth great extinction ... and I would be amazed if we're not one of the species that doesn't make it through this time:
