It is rare for a US Attorney General to make a statement on a foreign law-enforcement matter, but Loretta Lynch did just that when she commented on the escape of drug kingpin Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzmán Loera from a Mexican prison.
Lynch declared that the US shares Mexico’s concern regarding the break-out of the drug kingpin, who used a mile-long tunnel to get away, Lynch added that, “The US government stands ready to work with our Mexican partners to provide any assistance that may help support his swift recapture.”
The fact that Lynch felt compelled to make the statement in the first place is further evidence of the US’s complicated relationship with “El Chapo”.

Complicated relationship? Let's see ...
- The US gave the Sinaloa cartel thousands of assault weapons, but no one in the US was punished or even held accountable;
- Eric Holder, who as AG presided over the weapons transfer, has returned to a high paying job in Wall Street;
- Holder's DEA and ATF more or less helped El Chapo;
- Holder did not prosecute any of America's bankgangsters; and
- Now El Chapo has escaped.
Here's one possibility to consider: US bankgangsters always want more loot, and they have proven themselves willing to launder drug money. Was a deal worked out to spring El Chapo from prison in return for a more favorable money laundering deal (i.e., favorable to US bankgangsters)?
And who, pray tell, might have brokered such a deal?
