Travel Ban Mumbo Jumbo

This allegedly is why the US government will not impose an Ebola travel ban:

Ultimately, health specialists said, a ban would do more harm than good because it would isolate impoverished nations that are barely able to cope with the outbreak, and possibly cut them off from the international aid workers who provide critical help to contain the disease.

Translation: Preventing Ebola infected persons from boarding airplanes leaving the outbreak area somehow prevents money, goods, and aid workers from entering the outbreak area.

This clearly is nonsense.

Implication: Some of us will get sick and die in the hope that more of them will live.

Q: The US is allegedly the "exceptional" nation. Why then should we be sacrificed to save the lives of those who are not "exceptional"?

A: It is the rich who are the "exceptional" persons. The rest of us are useless eaters who shall be sacrificed so that the rich can live.

Update: I feel compelled to add this gem from Bloomberg:

“The damage is not as much in the number of deaths as much as in the panic it creates and all the disruption it creates in trade and travel,” he said.

Now we're getting somewhere ... "all the disruption it creates in trade and travel". In other words, you are stuck with globalization (a way of life which you never approved and which is detrimental to your well being), and nothing is going to make the rich change their mind ... not even the death of their fellow citizens. All goods and services must be allowed free access to anywhere in the world ... and a disease is just another commodity to be traded back and forth in the global markets.

What was it that Kate del Castillo said in her letter to El Chapo Guzman?

"La vida es un negocio, lo Ășnico que cambia es la mercancĂa." ["Life is a business, the only thing that changes is the merchandise."]

We are cannon fodder, guinea pigs, and merchandise in the struggle for and against global fascism, and don't you forget it.
