Plants Communicate Just Like Humans

You may have seen this cool report about a newly discovered form of plant communication:

I think the most fascinating part of the report is this:

What exactly are they telling each other? One possibility: [The parasite] may be telling the host to lower its defenses and allow it to drain nutrients.

That's the basic communication of human "neoliberalism": The parasite country (e.g., the United States) tells the host country (e.g., the countries of Africa, Central and South America) to lower their defenses so that we can steal their wealth.

Funny how that works.
