Asleep at the nuclear button

Seventeen Air Force officers have been disciplined for falling asleep at the nuclear button (literally):

Let's see:

  • Accidentally loading nuclear weapons on uncontrolled aircraft
  • Needlessly killing civilians using drones
  • Screwing up in the missile silos
You would think that for all the money we spend on "defense", we'd get a better product than this.

"The nuclear air force is suffering from a deep malaise caused by the declining relevance of their mission since the Cold War's end over 20 years ago."

Really?

Well, maybe we should let them launch the damn nukes every now and then to make things more interesting for the cry babies. Or turn their duties over to a computer, that will someday become self aware and kill us all.

Anything nuclear is an EXTREMELY bad idea. Leave the atoms alone. We need them, but they don't need us.
