The bottom line seems to be that the US is once again strengthening al-Qaeda, which makes sense when you realize that we created it in the first place.

By the way, let's talk about nuclear programs for a minute:

• For some reason, we're all bent out of shape over the non-existent Iranian nuclear program.
• But for some other reason, we didn't worry about the actual Iranian nuclear program which was underway back when the Shah was in power.
• Nor did we get excited over the South African nuclear program, even when they and the Israelis tested one or more nuclear devices in the Indian Ocean in 1979 (the "Vela Incident").
• And since at least the mid-90s, Saudi Arabia has been extracting uranium from their phosphate mining / fertilizer processing facilities - uranium which can be enriched to make nuclear bombs.
• Considering the amount of money the Saudis have and the fact that they work hand-in-hand with both the US and Israel, I would not be at all surprised to someday learn that Saudi Arabia has been turned into a nuclear weapons state in opposition to the eventual nuclear armed Caliphate which will arise in the Middle East.

And when that day comes, keep in mind that the emergence of that Caliphate was encouraged and hastened by the policies and actions of the United States of America.

By the way, when you look up the Vela Incident you'll mostly find reports which claim it was not related to nuclear weapons. However, I have read reports which present four (4!) independent verifications that it was indeed the result of at least one nuclear detonation.
