Amnesty by Fiat ???

US Constitution
Article II, Section 1
8. "I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my Ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."

Article II, Section 3

He shall from time to time give to the Congress Information of the State of the Union, and recommend to their Consideration such Measures as he shall judge necessary and expedient; he may, on extraordinary Occasions, convene both Houses, or either of them, and in Case of Disagreement between them, with Respect to the Time of Adjournment, he may adjourn them to such Time as he shall think proper; he shall receive Ambassadors and other public Ministers; he shall take Care that the Laws be faithfully executed, and shall Commission all the Officers of the United States.

The word "faithfully" appears in the US Constitution only twice, and both times it applies to the President:

  • He is required to faithfully execute his office, and
  • He is required to take care that the laws be faithfully executed.

Our current President and alleged former "constitutional law professor" is doing neither. He is being unfaithful.

In addition, as you can see from the above-quoted passages, the President is empowered to recommend measures to Congress. He is NOT empowered to unilaterally take action without their consent. I don't care if it was done before, and this clown doesn't honor precedent either.

As I understand them, his "amnesty" measures are reasonable. The affected persons are already here, and no one is going to expel them from the country. So why not give them a path to citizenship? I have no problem with that.

On the other hand, this is not the way to do it ... and we don't need a tyrant in the White House. Not now, not ever.
