Replacing brains with a machine will do to middle-class jobs what replacing muscles with a machine did to working class jobs: lots will be destroyed, and those left will have to be either very skilled or very unskilled.

Perhaps this is why the Feds and their corporate supporters don't seem to care about disease, war, or famine - their world will be immune to such things after they get rid of the rest of us.
