One might think from reading the US Constitution that someone accused of a crime is entitled to the legal representation of his/her choice:
Sixth Amendment
In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the State and district wherein the crime shall have been committed, which district shall have been previously ascertained by law, and to be informed of the nature and cause of the accusation; to be confronted with the witnesses against him; to have compulsory process for obtaining witnesses in his favor, and to have the Assistance of Counsel for his defence.
Apparently this does not apply if the accused's name is Donald Trump:

Although an impeachment is not your typical criminal prosecution, this ain't no typical impeachment, either. What we're witnessing is the beginning of the final death throes of the US republican form of government.
And stop pointing fingers ... we're ALL to blame, and we shall ALL suffer the consequences.
