The 2019-nCoV virus is now the COVID-19 virus:

Why the name change? According to the WHO:
The director general of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, noted that the new name made no reference to any of the people, places or animals associated with the coronavirus. The goal was to avoid stigma.
Well, that's admirable.
But doesn't it seem to you the chief concern among the WHO and CDC types has been to avoid offending anyone ... including by NOT quickly adopting strict measures to prevent the spread of the virus?
