"Cancelling" Student Debt

Many are urging the federal government to "cancel" student debt:

But what about this?

US Constitution, Amendment V
... nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation.

Contracted debt is someone's property. The federal government does not have the constitutional authority to just make it go away.

So, we either have to ignore the constitution (again!) or SOMEONE has to pony up the money to pay down or write off such debt.

What we should have had instead is REGULATION of our public and private education systems to prevent such a fiasco from happening.

When are We the People going to demand that our government finally do something GOOD for us?
