I've got a question - Assuming they will be the only survivors, is this the best the human race can do to ensure its continuation?

I mean, are these the "best" humans? What characteristics do they have, other than fierce ambition and rapaciousness? And how will such characteristics serve them well in a world with no one to prey upon except each other?

This may mean humanity has no future.
