The USAF is starting to set up charging stations for its future electric-powered aircraft. You can read about it here:
Before you get all excited, consider this claim from the report:
"You can power roughly 250 homes simultaneously with the amount of power one charger is using," Livermore said.
If we shift autos and airplanes to electric and shutdown all fossil fueled power plants, will there be enough electricity to go around?
Short answer - NO !!!
And since TPTB know this (they are so darn smart, right?), how do they plan to cope with the shortfall? Concentration camps 15 minute cities?
