The U.S. military has had its eyes on Afghan mineral deposits for some time. A 2007 Pentagon memo that the New York Times quoted in a 2010 article says that Afghanistan could be the “Saudi Arabia of lithium.”

This should sound familiar - it's exactly what we did to the American Indians. We stole their lands, killed them when they resisted, and then imprisoned the survivors on "reservations" when they refused to "assimilate" (i.e., die out).
If you were an undeveloped country, whose help would you want - the US, or the BRICS?
