Floyd's Cause Of Death

Some now are claiming George Floyd died not from police brutality but from a fentanyl overdose. You can read one such discussion here:

https://www.paulcraigroberts.org/2020/07/07/there-is-no-second-autopsy-of-george-floyds-death/

While I often agree with Dr. Roberts on many issues, I think he is way off base on this one. Why do I say that?

Floyd died in police custody. If he was in need of medical attention, what do YOU think would have been an appropriate action:
  • Take him to a hospital, or
  • Kneel on his neck until he was dead?

Even if fentanyl did play a role in Floyd's death, so did his treatment by the police. Yes, he may have died anyway had the police not come to the scene (although I doubt it), but he also may have been saved had the police not taken the time to beat the hell out of him and kneel on his neck instead of getting him to the hospital.

Update 7/19/2020

By the way, the German Business News has concluded that racism played no role in Floyd's death:

Police arbitrariness played a role in George Floyd's death, but the accused officials were not acting for racist reasons. This emerges from the recordings of two police body cams.

Considering Germany's sensitivity to issues related to race, I would tend to agree with them.

  1. Here is further discussion. At the VERY least this was depraved indifference to human life:
