Fusion In Our Future ???

Here is a pie in the sky report about the future of nuclear fusion:

News flash - Just because Jeff Bezos may be behind something doesn't always mean it will work. I am personally acquainted with the person who ran the US fusion program for years. He is a VERY intelligent, capable physicist. He couldn't make fusion work, and frankly I don't see how Bezos can either.

By the way, you may have noticed that people are getting upset with the NRC for proposing to license nuclear reactors for 100 years. At issue is the fact that neutrons, which are essential for the operation of fission reactors, embrittle (weaken) key components such as reactor vessels and associated piping.

Well, guess what? Fusion reactors will have a similar problem, since they will produce prodigious amounts of neutrons, protons, and other energetic heavy particles. So far no one is talking about how long components of fusion facilities will last in such a harsh environment, but I'm guessing it won't be as long as you might think.

There is no free lunch. If "climate change" is the basic problem, the only solution is reduced energy use, and the only means to achieve that may be a strictly rationed, greatly reduced human population.

And if you think about it, you'll have to admit TPTB always have been much more successful at finding ways to kill us than at finding ways to make our lives better.
