The endless "9/11" war just goes on and on, used as an excuse to fight "enemies" everywhere, for almost any reason (or no reason at all):

Here is my two cents on the matter:
(1) I think it's clear the Framers of the US Constitution wanted to PREVENT such endless wars; and
(2) These clauses are the tools which SHOULD be used to effect that prevention:
US Constitution
Article I, Section 8
The Congress shall have Power ...
11: To declare War, grant Letters of Marque and Reprisal, and make Rules concerning Captures on Land and Water;
12: To raise and support Armies, but no Appropriation of Money to that Use shall be for a longer Term than two Years;
As the Congress has power to "declare War", it also has the power to state when war is over. Clause I-8-12 more or less implies that no war should last more than two years. And that should mean the AUMF already has expired.
