I don't find this "surprising" at all. Society is urging girls to act in the manner we used to urge boys to act - aggressively and disrespectfully.
And anyone who thinks this development is a good thing is a moron.
Instead of obsessing about "toxic masculinity", we ought to shift our focus to "toxic femininity":
