Here is an observation by Michael Snyder (who seems to have gone into "Chicken Little" mode):
Overall, there have been 9 named storms in the Atlantic and 15 names storms in the Pacific since the official start of the hurricane season.
That is not normal.

Yes Mike, this does not appear to be "normal".
But it is not "the day after tomorrow", either. In that movie scenario, ocean currents had shifted and super storms were pulling down frigid air from the upper atmosphere. As far as I know, neither of those phenomenon are taking place.
