I think this would be a GREAT idea, especially because most of "our" debt comes from wasteful spending by the federal government. The states could keep the parts they want and repudiate the rest. That may seem catastrophic to some, but aren't the alternatives even worse?

That's right - every person born is already saddled with debt which may never be repaid. What kind of future is that?
