We Could Have Had Peace With NK 40 Years Ago

With U.S. President Donald Trump once more touting his desire to withdraw the 28,500 U.S. troops currently stationed in South Korea, it is perhaps worthwhile briefly examining the last time an American president attempted to remove U.S. forces from the Korean Peninsula. U.S. President Jimmy Carter in the late 1970s was ultimately stopped by congressional obstruction, the Pentagon, and the intelligence community, among others, from implementing a troop withdrawal policy he had repeatedly promised during his presidential campaign in 1976. Put otherwise, and to use 21st century Trumpian parlance: the so-called “deep state” stopped Carter from executing his plans.

This is not the first time the deep state has induced a president to get us into war or to keep us there:

  • Wilson unnecessarily got us involved in WWI
  • FDR unnecessary got us involved in WWII
  • Truman unnecessarily got us involved in the Korean War
  • The U-2 incident kept the Cold War going
  • LBJ unnecessarily kept us in the Vietnam War
  • Both Bushes unnecessarily took us to war with Iraq
  • All presidents since 9/11 have kept us in the War on Terror
  • And since the 2016 election, the deep state has worked tirelessly to keep Trump from making peace with anyone

We the People and "our" Congress do not run this country; the deep state does. And they shall keep us at war until the last drop of blood is sucked from our dying nation.

  1. And somehow the MSM wants us to think We the People and not the deep state are the real enemy of our nation:
