Some Pertinent Numbers

Please review and compare these statistics:

(1) There are 428,000 children in US foster care:

http://www.childrensrights.org/newsroom/fact-sheets/foster-care/

(2) There are 53,000 children in US juvenile detention at any given time:

https://www.childtrends.org/indicators/juvenile-detention

(3) The US immigration system has separated 3,700 children from their parents:

Why are we fixated on #3, while more or less ignoring #1 and #2? Are we really concerned about these kids, or just using them for political purposes?
