"Evolution creates structures and patterns that over time are more complicated, more knowledgeable, more intelligent, more creative, more capable of expressing higher sentiments like being loving," he said. "So it's moving in the direction that God has been described as having -- these qualities without limit."
Yes, we are becoming gods.
"Evolution is a spiritual process and makes us more godlike," was Kurzweil's conclusion.
There's something so uplifting, yet so splendidly egocentric in suggesting that man will soon be God, thanks to artificial intelligence. The mere fact that this intelligence is artificial might be a clue as to its potential limitations.
You can read more of Mr. Kurzweil's delusions @

I don't want to be "godlike". People who think they are G-d or who hear G-d's voice telling them to do things often become horrible criminals.
Besides, I completely disagree with his statement "evolution creates structures and patterns that over time are more complicated, more knowledgeable, more intelligent, more creative, more capable of expressing higher sentiments like being loving".
Were we to believe Mr. Kurzweil, evolution also created Tyrannosaurus rex, which may have been loving to its offspring but certainly didn't love anyone else. The same principle will apply to the tech giants who will use such technology to become "godlike". They may love each other and their children, but they certainly are NOT going to love We The People.
And if we all get to use this technology, heaven help us. We may be technologically advanced, but most humans are moral and ethical infants. I would be amazed if such a development did not lead to a bloodbath of global proportions.
