No reason whatsoever not to believe Netanyahu, except for the fact that more and more Jews, and less and less Muslims, are allowed to enter the compound; that Israeli police now hold permanent presence even inside the compound; that there are scores and dozens of groups of Jewish zealots who publish pictures of the Mount with its mosques removed, who try to lay the cornerstone for a third Jewish temple, who prepare themselves to sacrifice animals and all other primitive rites that were allegedly practiced in that Temple two thousand years ago. No reason whatsoever to fear for the future of the mosque, the 3rd holiest place for Islam and a Palestinian national symbol, under the most extremist Jewish government Israel has ever seen.
What is likely to take place now is not a division of Jerusalem, but rather its ethnic cleansing.

Yes, Jerusalem will be cleansed of all Muslims and others the Israelis think do not belong there. And it will then be made the capital city of the Jewish state of Israel.
But the author is misleading you when he mentions those "who prepare themselves to sacrifice animals and all other primitive rites that were allegedly practiced in that Temple two thousand years ago". There is no "allegedly" about it. It is those very sacrifices and rites which are the ONLY real motivation the US has to support Israel in what they now are doing.
For it is the destiny of the United States to enable the rebuilding of the Jewish Temple and the restarting of the sacrifices. Were this not to be done, the following prophecy of Daniel could not be fulfilled:
And arms shall stand on his part, and they shall pollute the sanctuary of strength, and shall take away the daily sacrifice, and they shall place the abomination that maketh desolate.
Daniel 11:31 KJV
For if no Jewish Temple exists in which the Antichrist can declare himself to be G-d and take away the sacrifices and place therein the abomination of desolation, then there can be no fulfillment of the prophecies which lead to the return of Jesus Christ and the establishment of the Kingdom of G-d.
So, ironically, Jews long for the appearance of their Messiah, while Christians long for the appearance of the Antichrist ... allegedly because his presence is required before Jesus can return.
