My review of her patents suggested to me that it was her concept which had been granted a patent and that working prototypes of her device(s) had not yet been developed. That possibility might explain what is now going on.
By the way, a finger prick can hurt a lot more than a properly executed venous puncture. There are many more nerves in your finger tips than in the skin over most veins.
I also question whether peripheral blood is representative of one's overall blood volume. I can see how her method would work well with go/no-go tests (e.g., do you harbor a particular protein in your blood) but perhaps not work well with tests that measure the concentration of a substance in your blood.
