10 Known Nuclear Unknowns

According to this report, there are at least 11 unsolved nuclear "mysteries":

Some of them are only "unsolved" because the US is protecting the culpability of the Israelis.

For example, the report begins with this sentence:

The Vela Incident, in which it’s believed that two unknown nuclear weapons detonated near Antarctica, may be the most famous nuclear mystery.

I have written about this incident before:

The Vela incident was confirmed as a nuclear detonation by four methods:
  • the Vela Hotel satellite detected a nuclear flash;
  • an upper atmosphere event consistent with a nuclear detonation was registered at the same time;
  • an undersea event consistent with a nuclear detonation was registered at the same time; and
  • the thyroid glands of sheep grazing downwind of the site registered an uptake of radioiodine consistent with a nuclear detonation.
The only reason the Vela incident allegedly is an unsolved mystery is that the US defined it as such to protect the likely culprits - the Israelis and their South African accomplices.

Update - 1/30/2024

This report makes it clear that Carter knew in advance what South Africa and Israel were up to:

Sad that he was the one who first let them get away with it. Note well they gave him no thanks at all. In fact, possession of nukes is the main reason Israelis think they can spit in our faces and get away with it.
