According to this report, no one knows what to do with our "excess" weapons grade plutonium:

One brilliant idea was to put it inside the high level nuclear waste logs which were supposed to be buried in Yucca Mountain (the so-called "can in a can" plan). That was abandoned after it was discovered the cans would eventually leak, allowing the plutonium to migrate and perhaps go critical.
Maybe we should keep it in Fort Knox. According to what I've heard, there isn't much gold there anymore.
