Who Moved Detroit's Cheese ???

Did you ever read the book Who Moved My Cheese? by Spencer Johnson, MD? One of my bosses made all employees read it in preparation for the "change" our organization soon underwent.

Part of the story presented by the book is that if "someone" or "something" moves your cheese, it's up to you to adapt and look for new sources of cheese. If you can't or won't, then that's your problem. No one owes you anything, and if you starve ... well, that's nobody's problem except yours.

We're witnessing a real-world unfolding of that story in Detroit, Michigan. Once the "Arsenal of Democracy" and "Motor City", Detroit is now a burned out disaster zone where half the population can't even pay their water bills:

What happened? Someone moved their cheese.

Why was it moved? Because the rats decided they deserved more cheese than did the mice.

And the rats don't give a damn that the mice are now starving and without water. After all, this whole mess is not the fault of the rats; no, we should blame it on the mice ... who can't survive on the crumbs the rats left them. Somehow it's their fault.

What was it that Malcolm X said?
