Will EU Approve Kurdish Independence ???

According to this report, the world may soon see an independent Kurdistan:

I find this to be astonishing, especially the part that says Turkey approves.

Years ago I attended a university in the US which has many students from Turkey. I was surprised to discover that many of them (all of whom appeared to be intelligent people) had a pathological hatred of the Kurds, similar to what today's Israelis feel about the Palestinians. Where did that hatred disappear to, or is it still there but being suppressed in the MSM?

I can see the value to Turkey of having "Kurdistan" carved out of her enemies Iraq and Syria:

But what does Turkey get to compensate for the loss of its territory in this deal? Is it oil and gas, again? Could be:

If so, once again the aspirations of a people take a back seat to the rapacious desires of Western energy companies.
