Another Fertilizer Explosion

A fire at a fertilizer plant in NC may lead to an explosion. You can read about it here:

A similar fire at a facility in West, TX caused a fatal explosion in 2013:

In a former life I had cause to review the state authorizations for such facilities. At the time of the West explosion, it was my assessment that lax regulations played a factor in the tragedy. This was confirmed when the Texas legislature mandated the TCEQ to tighten its regs.

It's also possible that lax regs played a part in the NC event. If so, it would be nice if ALL states were to review and if necessary tighten the rules for such facilities.

The reason I bring this up now is that fertilizer prices are skyrocketing and threaten the ability of farmers to plant and successfully bring in their crops this year. Additional fires and explosions would just make the problem worse.

Famine rides the pale green horse, and she follows pestilence, war, and death which ride the white, red, and black horses of the Apocalypse. Her appearance may be inevitable, but we should try to delay it if we can.

Clearly, the moron in the White House is making things worse, thanks to his neocon advisors.
