• He says AI systems could have objectives misaligned with human values
• Companies and the military could allow this to get a technological edge
• He urges the AI community to put human values at the centre of their work

During World War Two, the most intelligent people on the planet got together to do the dumbest thing humanity has ever done - they built nuclear weapons, which now threaten to kill us all.

And now the most intelligent people on the planet are getting together again to do an even dumber thing - they are building intelligent machines which are going to kill us all.

Do you see a pattern here? "Intelligence" isn't all it's cracked up to be. To quote Dr. Ian Malcolm in Jurassic Park:

"Your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could that they didn't stop to think if they should."
