Thomas Jefferson and Andrew Jackson have been deleted from the history of Connecticut:
Under pressure from the NAACP, the state Democratic Party will scrub the names of the two presidents from its annual fundraising dinner because of their ties to slavery.
Party leaders voted unanimously Wednesday night in Hartford to rename the Jefferson Jackson Bailey dinner in the aftermath of last month’s fatal shooting of nine worshipers at the historic black church in Charleston, S.C.
The decision is believed to be unprecedented and could prompt Democrats in other states with similarly-named events to follow suit.
“I see it as the right thing to do,” Nick Balletto, the party’s first-year chairman, told Hearst Connecticut Media Wednesday night. “I wasn’t looking to be a trailblazer or set off a trend that’s going to affect the rest of the country. Hopefully, they’ll follow suit when they see it’s the right thing to do.”

Déjà vu all over again, at least for me.
Here is an excerpt from my novella No More Patriots:
The Campaign for Global Peace and Harmony invites you to bring your children to Mount Rushmore on Presidents Day to hear all living former Presidents encourage the winners of an essay contest to tell the new truths.
Desired transformation: The so-called self-evident truths of the Founders will be shown to be a pack of self-serving lies.
Rationale: The words and deeds of America’s Founders have inspired generations of both domestic and foreign extremists. By discrediting the Founders, this phase of the campaign will weaken their appeal to the people and to potential extremists.
Telling the truth was the theme of today’s ceremony. In imitation of previous dedications of the statues on Mount Rushmore, a national essay contest had been held with the goal of restating what Borglum’s sculptures meant to today’s children. The winners in the grade school, high school, and college categories would be reading their winning entries to the crowd and the honored guests, including all of America’s living former Presidents. A satellite hookup would beam their words to a national audience.
Following an introduction by one of Borglum’s descendants, the first essay contest winner, a girl in the fourth grade from California, belted out her interpretation of the monument.
“All of these men were extremists and war mongers. Washington and Jefferson were lifelong slave owners. Abraham Lincoln did as little as possible to free the slaves, and Roosevelt did everything he could to enslave the people of the Philippines. How can such men possibly still be our heroes? And why hasn’t America paid reparations to the descendants of her millions of slaves?”
“This sculpture represents the worst aspects of a patriarchal society. It is absurd to think that Thomas Jefferson and the other Founders really believed that ‘all men are created equal’. And they certainly did not believe that women, Indians, Blacks, or anyone who wasn’t a rich white, Anglo-Saxon Protestant man should have any political or economic rights at all. Their narrow minded view of the world must be replaced with one which allows true freedom and equality for everyone.”
After the final essay had been read, each of the former Presidents in attendance gave his short remarks, which could be summarized with these six words:
“It’s the right thing to do.”
