A mother of eight (!) died in a holding cell "after allegedly stealing a small item from a drug store" (actually a restaurant supply store):

This is the value of a human life in the US - the cost of "a small item", possibly produced for one dollar or less.
We really taught her a lesson, didn't we?
Are we so fixated on "law & order" that we're willing to tolerate this kind of crap, again and again?
This is a screwed up country and a depraved justice (sic) system.
