The faulty premise I believe is involved here is that any of this is "federal land".
If the so-called US government fails to protect its borders, then it has no right to claim it represents a nation state. And if that is true, then in reality it owns nothing. You cannot own something you don't possess and defend.
You can believe otherwise if you wish. Good luck with the non-nation you're turning our former country into. I probably won't be around to witness its ultimate fate, but I already can see it won't be pretty.
