Allegedly, a Hollywood big shot was involved in a bribery scheme with the Israeli PM over some German submarines. You can read about the allegations here:

I would be willing to bet that if the US had properly investigated what these two were doing back then and had indicted, prosecuted, and imprisoned them (assuming they were found to be guilty), the 9/11 attacks and the war on terror would never have taken place.
Not that there's any proof these two were involved in 9/11; but if we had shown our resolve to not let foreign powers and their agents meddle in our internal affairs it's likely none would have.
